Obituary for William V. "Bill" Tapper

William (Bill) V. Tapper, age 72 of Corning, New York passed away on Saturday, January 15th, 2022 at his residence.
He was born on November 3rd, 1949 in Corning, New York and was the son of the late Frank V. Tapper Sr. and Dorothy J. Tapper. William was a graduate of Corning East High School in 1971 and a veteran of the United States Marines, where he served from 1969 to 1971. William was employed by Corning Incorporated and retired in 2008.

William loved all things related to cars and spent his free time working on his many vehicles. Though he worked at his own pace, he could fix just about anything. He enjoyed visiting local establishments, especially Jim’s Texas Hots where he would socialize with friends and community members, and McDonald’s where he enjoyed sipping his coffee after a meal and visiting with the staff. William was also an avid fan of German Shepherds.

William is survived by his siblings, Frank (Wendy) V. Tapper Jr. of Painted Post, NY and Thomas (Lori) E. Tapper of Albany, New York, nieces and nephews Kevin F. Tapper of Corning, New York, Holly DuVall of Corning, New York, Stacy Watson of Corning, New York, Cindy (Champ) Tapper-Peralta of Albany, New York, and Ryan (Courtney) Tapper of Erie, Colorado.

In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by his sister Cindy Watson, and his nephew Shawn T. Tapper.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, January 28th from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Phillips Funeral Home 17 W. Pulteney Street, Corning, New York 14830.
In lieu of flowers, donations in William’s name may be sent to a charity of choice.
