Obituary for Richard W. Gee, Jr.
Richard W. Gee, Jr. age 47 of Big Flats, NY passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Strong Memorial Hospital with his family at his side after a long battle with Leukemia.
Born on July 19, 1975 in Corning, NY, he was the son of Richard and Janet (Button) Gee. Richard was a graduate of Addison High School and attended technical school at BOCES. He was employed as a machinist for Hardinge out of Elmira Heights for 28 years.
Richard will be remembered for his love of adventure. He loved to hike and camp and would take his son Zacharie on camping trips to Sugar Hill in Watkins Glen and would often travel to various other camping and hiking sites with Josie. Josie and Richard were avid trivia players - playing regularly at various local spots and traveling to Syracuse to enjoy puzzle rooms and other fun that involved using his brain to solve things. He also enjoyed golfing and enjoying a good meal. During Zacharie's younger years, he was very involved in his Boy Scout activities - traveling to Gettysburg and racing Go-Karts. Traveling was another favorite past-time - taking multiple trips to Ocean City. Richard's greatest joy was his family, especially his son and granddaughter, Melody.
Richard is survived by his son, Zacharie (Logen) Gee of Big Flats, NY; granddaughter, Melody Gee; parents, Richard and Janet Gee of Belleview, FL; brother, Scott (Violet) Gee of Borden, NY; girlfriend, Josie Lemieux of Elmira, NY; niece, Tori Gee; and many other extended family members.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Phillips Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney St. Corning. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
