Obituary for Patricia J. (Jones) Briggs
Patricia J. (Jones) Briggs, age 69 of Painted Post, NY passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital. Born on May 21, 1953 in Corning, NY, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Hollis (Cassidy) Jones.
Patricia was a graduate of West High School, class of 1971 and later attended Corning Community College where she obtained her Associates in Business Administration. She married James L. Briggs on September 15, 1995 in Painted Post. She worked in numerous positions, but most recently as a storeroom keeper for Corning Inc. retiring in 2012 with 35 years of service.
Patricia will be remembered for her love of traveling - which included stopping for meals at various diners and restaurants, outlet shopping, visiting flea markets and going to casinos with her husband. She enjoyed taking photos and putting together scrapbooks as gifts to family and friends and was an avid collector of Beanie Babies - even trading internationally for those she couldn't find in the States. She also had a passion for bowling and playing cards. Her family will remember her as being a very giving person who was always willing to help anyone in need. Her greatest love was for her family. She had a soft spot for children and was very involved in all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities.
Patricia is survived by her husband, James L. Briggs of Painted Post, NY; children: James Robert (Mike Davern) Briggs of Rochester, NY, Timothy Briggs of Painted Post, NY, Justin (Shannon Clarkson) Briggs of Corning, NY, April (Kenneth Wolcott) Briggs of Painted Post, NY, Belinda (Robert) Thompson of Scio, NY, Alexia Vantreese of Cortland, NY and Adam (Brian Riggs) Briggs; 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; brother, Kevin (Billie) Jones of Corning, NY; sister-in-law, Paula (John) Olson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Patricia was predeceased by her brother, Richard D. Jones; and son, Leon Briggs.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 11:00 to 1:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home 17 W. Pulteney Street Corning, NY. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 1:00 pm, Pastor Kevin Austin officiating. Private burial will take place in the family plot in Chapel Knoll Cemetery.
