Obituary for Lawrence C. Dixon
Lawrence "Larry" C. Dixon, age 71, of Wayland, New York passed away on Friday, April 1, 2022 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born on December 23, 1950 in Corning, New York to Lawrence Dixon and Alice Johnson.
In his free time, Lawrence “Larry” will be remembered for his smile that lit up the room and the pure joy he gave to others. Larry didn’t just love Superman but he was quite the super man himself. His infectious laugh and lighthearted nature spread cheer to those around him. In his free time, he would often be found deep in a coloring book or contently watching Lawrence Welk on TV. The magic of Christmas music wasn’t only around at holiday time, as Larry would sing White Christmas no matter the season. It was often the small gestures of cards in the mail that would make Larry’s day, especially if he was lucky enough to find a 5-dollar bill inside! Some of his favorite past times included spending his day gazing at the Chevy’s in the dealership, going out to eat or having picnics.
We extend our hearts and thanks to the staff at Southview and Dogwood day programs, as they weren’t just staff, but extended family. In honor of Larry’s bubbly personality and infectious grin, please extend a smile to others, laugh with those you love and remember, you’re never too old for a superman coloring book.
Lawrence is survived by his brothers: Earl (Betty) Dixon, Scott (Kathy) Dixon; sister in law: Janie Dixon; brother in law: Steve McUmber; nieces and nephews: Earl Jr, Catherine, Erika, Penny, Edith, Magee, Kimberlee, Shannon, Scott Jr., Kyle, Brynn, Laura, and Adam.
In addition to his parents, Lawrence was predeceased by a brother: Michael Dixon; sisters: Julie Mcumber, and Mary Catherine Dixon.
A private graveside services will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Corning. Arrangements are entrusted to Phillips Funeral Home, Corning.
