Obituary for Kathryn Ann Scouten (Button)
Kathryn "Kathy" Ann Scouten, age 68, of Corning, New York passed away on Saturday, January 21st, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born on August 25th, 1954 in Corning, the daughter of the late Wallace Button and Rose Button. Kathy was a graduate of Corning West Class of 1972. She married the love of her life, Dale Scouten, on October 28, 2005. She was employed by Corning Building Company and Lowe's.
Kathy will be remembered for her smile and her contagious giggle. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports. She was a loving, kind spirit who always put her loved ones first and wanted to ensure that her children and grandchildren were always taken care of. Her children and grandchildren will forever be grateful for her support and continued love.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Dale Scouten; children: Kelly (Stephen Cook) Newman, Jeremy (Stephanie) Smith, Ashley (Jason Colegrove) Schmitz, Michelle (Manuel) Vasquez, and Rodney (Carol) Scouten; grandchildren: Kenna Newman, Hunter Newman, Tanner Smith, Keegan Smith, Brooke Schmitz, Brady Schmitz, Justin Vasquez, and Elias Vasquez; siblings: Jim Button, Marilyn Gagne, John Button, Phyllis Stevens, and Wallace Button; several nieces and nephews and special friends: Edith Moore, Pam Jessup, Donna Button, and Pam Gross.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was predeceased by her sisters: Cheryl Huyler, and Rosie Bliss.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, January 26th, 2023 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home 17 W. Pulteney Street Corning, New York 14830. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in the family plot in Chapel Knoll Cemetery.
