Obituary for Jackie H. Stowe

Jackie H. Stowe, age 48 of Corning, NY passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.

Born on June 25, 1973 in Elmira, NY, he was the son of the late Jackie Stowe, Sr. and Linda Snyder. Jackie was a graduate of Southside High School in Elmira, NY and received his Bachelor's degree from Buffalo State University. He married Tracy Maphis on August 28, 1999. Jackie worked as an ASAT counselor for the New York State Department of Corrections for 21 years and for Glove House in Elmira, NY. When he wasn't working his other two jobs, he worked as an Uber driver.

Jackie will be remembered for his love of sports. He was an avid football fan, always rooting for the NY Giants. He also loved to travel and was known to pick up and take off on road trips with his daughters to various locations. They took yearly trips to beaches, sports games and concerts. In his free time he enjoyed reading and taking photographs. Jackie was also an animal lover.

Jackie is survived by his loving wife, Tracy Stowe of Corning, NY; daughters: Jada Stowe of Corning, NY, Jazmin Stowe of Corning, NY; mother, Linda Snyder of Elmira, NY; sisters: Ashley (Kenneth Williams) McKoy of Elmira, NY, Christine (Steve) Durant of Texas; several aunts, uncles, cousins nieces and nephews and many friends.

In addition to his father, Jackie was predeceased by his brother, James Vorhees, Jr.; maternal grandmother, Mary Eleanor Snyder; and cousin and lifelong friend, Lorenzo Harris.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home 17 W. Pulteney Street Corning. A memorial service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 5:00 pm, Pastor Veronica Seeley officiating.
