Obituary for Ezra Rowley Wolcott Jr.
Ezra R. Wolcott, Jr. passed away on March 2, 2023 at age 91. Son of Ezra and Marion (Geuther) Wolcott, Sr., he was a resident of Big Flats nearly his entire life. After graduating from Lafayette College in 1953 with a degree in civil engineering, he married the love of his life, S. Kay Rowley. He then served two years as a Lieutenant in the US Army Corps of Engineers stationed first at Fort Belvoir, VA and then at an Army base near Munich, Germany.
Returning to Big Flats in 1956, he joined his father’s general contracting and construction business, E.R. Wolcott, Inc., eventually becoming its president. He was an avid hunter and instrument-rated pilot, instilling a love of the outdoors and flying in his three children, Gregory (Nancy), Alec (Chris) and Kathryn. In addition to his children, he is survived by his brother, Lee G. Wolcott, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His wife, Kay, predeceased him on February 8, 2023.
Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Big Flats, 95 Main St, Big Flats, NY on Saturday, March 11, 2023 beginning with calling hours at 10:00am followed by a memorial service at 11:00am.
