Obituary for Marie "Eveline" Shauger
Marie "Eveline" Shauger, age 90 of Painted Post, New York passed away on May 30, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 27, 1931, in St. Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada to David and Louise (Tardif) Richardson.
Eveline married William Shauger and moved to Painted Post in the early 1960s. She lived a long life and always enjoyed the family and friends that she and Bill shared. She had many talents including being a wonderful cook and homemaker. She often cooked meals for Bill’s work colleagues. All her life she was a very giving person. At an early age she worked and sent money home to help her family in Canada. If you knew Eveline, she would always tell you she would pray for you.
Eveline was a proud owner of prize-winning Great Danes- Danny, Brygitta and DJ, and participated in many shows with her dogs over the years. Her dogs earned many coveted awards. Later in life she loved cats and took care of many of the strays that somehow ended up at her doorstep.
Eveline had always dreamed of owning a big house and later in life she was able to achieve that and built her dream home. She worked on many parts of the house and was so happy to share her home with family visitors.
Her greatest pride in joy was her family. Eveline is survived by her son Leo (Rita) Shauger, her precious granddaughter, Madison Shauger and three beloved great granddaughters, Caroline, Emily, and Hannah.
Eveline is also survived by her daughter, Joanne Duguay of St. Pamphile, Quebec; sisters Sophie (Andre Leo Theriault) Richardson of St. Columbine, Quebec, and Lucienne (Claude) Brideau of Moncton, New Brunswick. She is survived by many family members including several very special nieces and nephews who lovingly called her “Minnie.” She truly enjoyed spending time with each one of them and especially enjoyed when they came to visit. She is also survived by her very special friend Lori Frost.
In addition to her parents, Eveline was predeceased her husband Bill, her brother Lawrence (and his wife, Lauza) Richardson, sister Rosanne Leclair, and other immediate family members.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 11:00 am, Father Patrick Connor officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the family plot in Seamans Cemetery, Savona.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Eveline's name may be sent to All Saint's Parish, 158 State St., Corning, NY 14830.
