Obituary for Dorothy Marie Wade (Harrington)
Dorothy Marie Wade, age 98, of Painted Post, NY died peacefully at home on Friday, February 10, 2023 to join her beloved Marvin in Heaven for their 75th wedding anniversary this Valentines day. Marvin predeceased her in 2012.
She was born on August 24, 1924 in Coopers Plains, NY to Percy and Hazel Harrington. Dorothy was a graduate of Nichols High School.
She worked as a loan officer with Corning Credit Union, and later retired from Corning Glass Works in the late 1970's.
In retirement her and Marvin wintered in Bokeelia, FL, where she was a member of Pine Island Art Association. She had a passion for painting, especially painting with pastels and won many awards for her artistic talent. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the American Legion Post 136 in Pine Island, FL.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Joseph) Farr of Lawrenceville, PA; James (Cindy) Wade of Micco, Fl; grandson, Jeffrey (Traci) Wade of Tionesta, PA; granddaughter, Janelle (Kris) Barber of Tioga, PA that she always called "The Bestest," and several cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Helen Taylor.
A special "Thank You" to Pathways staff- Melissa, Georgette, Lynette, Candace, Jenn, Eloise, and especially Laurie that had been taking care of Dorothy and Marvin for over 17 years.
It was Dorothy's wish that there be no public services. Phillips Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. She will be laid to rest with Marvin in Addison Rural Cemetery, Addison.
