Obituary for Donna Jean Perry (Scheffer)
Donna J. Perry, age 85 of Painted Post, NY passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Corning Hospital with her family by her side. Born on October 23, 1937 in Lockport, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Helen (Cline) Scheffer.
Donna was a graduate of Lockport High School class of 1955 and later attended Buffalo State College where she obtained her Master's in Teaching. She married her college sweetheart, Ronald Perry in August of 1959. He predeceased her on June 21, 2021. She taught for the Corning-Painted Post School District, retiring in 2000.
Donna was a longtime volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was a lover of cookies and wine and all animals, especially her cats. Her greatest joy was her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Donna is survived by her son, Brian (Pam) Perry of Hornby; grandchildren: Michael (Jennifer Baker) Perry of Painted Post, Amanda (Jesse) Wilson of Williamson, NY, and Rebecca (James) LaGrange of Painted Post; great grandchildren: Gavin, Abigayle, Brantley, Payton, Tanner, Madilynn-Patricia, Caleb, Colton, and Charlotte; sister, Sharon Sterritt of Atlanta, GA; brother, Robert Scheffer of Lockport, NY; and exchange students: Berenice Tapia, Gloria Mosqueira, Branda Rojo, and Julie Wright.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Donna was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Perry.
Family and friends are invited to visitation on Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Phillips Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney Street Corning, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 9:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 155 State Street Corning, NY, Fr. John Omboga officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Chapel Knoll Cemetery.
