Obituary for Donald G. Passmore
Donald G. Passmore, age 68 of Corning, NY passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Robert Packer Hospital.
Born on April 13, 1954 in Corning, NY he was the son of the late Raymond and Pauline (Ellis) Passmore. Donald was a graduate of Corning East High School, class of 1972. After graduating, Don joined the United States Air Force, serving from 1975 to 1979. After returning home, he attended Elmira Business Institute where he received a certification in Computer Science. He married Jan A. Pease on July 27, 1985 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Corning. Don worked at Toshiba for 18 years, serving as treasurer of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local union 1632. Don worked as a janitor for the Corning Children's Center for the last three years.
Don will be remembered by his family and friends as a hard worker, selfless, loving and very kind man.
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Jan Passmore of Corning; son, Thomas Passmore of Horseheads, NY; brothers: Dave (Jeanne) Passmore of Virginia, Jim (Brenda) Passmore of Painted Post, John Passmore of Painted Post, Raymond (Anne) Passmore of Rochester; and various nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by his best friend, Dave Miller.
The family would like to personally thank the nurses at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre for their care of Don as well as Tom’s significant other Justine Polonski for transporting Jan to the hospital to spend as much time with Don as possible.
A private family celebration will take place at a later date. Phillips Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with the arrangements.
