Obituary for Byron R. McLean

Byron R. McLean, age 82, long time resident of Cooper Plains, passed away unexpectedly of heart failure caused by a pulmonary embolism on June 11, 2022.

Byron was one of ten children born to the late Melvin and Jessie (Crane) McLean. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Beverly (Hilton) McLean; daughter, Beth (Irvin) Propps; and son, Brent (Kathyann) McLean; grandsons: Noah, Collin, and Bryce; siblings: Walter (Buddy) McLean, Martin (Sharry) McLean, Frances Raker; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Byron was predeceased by his son, Bradley Ross; and siblings: Corliss, Justin, Vernon, Franley, Marcie, and Mylie.

After Byron retired from Corning Inc., he enjoyed bowling, gardening, restoring his 1937 Lincoln Zephyr, and traveling. Cooking, baking, and helping his children and grandchildren were his greatest joys. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Services will be private with burial at Chapel Knoll Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org or to a charity of your choice. Phillips Funeral Home, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with Byron's arrangements.
