Obituary for Alice "Auntie" Bastian (Smith)
Alice "Auntie" Bastian, age 94, of Corning, New York passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Absolut Care of Three Rivers.
She was born on November 23, 1927 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Ernest Smith and Mamie "Sally" McKay. Alice "Auntie" was a graduate of Mansfield High School. She married Jack Bastian on March 17th, 1947 and celebrated 75 years together. She was employed as the Office Manager at JC Penney for 30 years and went on to work for Gates Rockwell for 18 years.
Alice was a long time member and volunteer at the Food Pantry at the Painted Post Methodist Church.
Alice "Auntie" is survived by her spouse, Jack; devoted niece Sally (Dare) Daniels; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Alice "Auntie" was predeceased by her siblings: Louise Metzger-Livengood, Alene Carpenter-Carroll, Keith Smith, Elwin Smith, Lowell Smith, Wendell Smith.
It was Alice "Auntie's" wish that there be no services. Phillips Funeral Home, Corning, NY has been entrusted with the arrangements.
